Lore Drop – The Magen

The Librarian conducted one more circuit of the crowded square. With a wave of subdued annoyance it concluded that the  dragonborn interloper had managed to evade it. It paused and let the crowds part around it while it considered its options.

It’s programming, set since its decanting from its mold, were to preserve the archives and enforce the restriction of specifically indicated materials. It did not know what, precisely, the sorcerer had found. That wasn’t something it needed to know.

Somehow, the visitor had gained access to records of Pure Flame purges in the city during the Last War. There would have to be a review of storage arrangements to prevent a recurrence. It would be inefficient to have to kill accidental readers when padlocks and wards would restrict access.

Smoothly, the green-hued figure turned and made its way back to the archives. To save time as it approached, it smoothly rose into the air, which crackled around it. It swiftly closed the window behind it as it settled to the floorboards, and then looked at the magical webs that still restrained the iron defenders.

It would report the incident and suggest actions. At least the intruder hadn’t damaged the archives. The Librarian considered that some considerable restraint had been exercised by the dragonborn. This would be noted and shared with its brothers as a tactical consideration.

The Order would have to take steps, but the Librarian would probably not be involved in that. Silently it rang a bell, and started tidying up while waiting for a handler.
